Produce at a farmers market in Indiana

Indiana has a vibrant agricultural community, and its immense impact on the state is often understated. According to the Indiana State Department of Agriculture, the total contributions to Indiana’s economy from agriculture amount to an estimated $35 billion.

One of the best ways to connect with the local agricultural industry is by visiting a community farmers market. Indiana’s farmers markets are treasure troves of locally grown food, from fresh produce, quality meats, crafts, jams, sauces and more.

Farmers market season in Indiana typically lasts from May through October. There’s something so special about great food, warm weather and connecting with people in your community!

Finding a Farmers Market in Indiana

If you decide to visit an Indiana farmers market near you, a valuable resource is Indiana Farm Bureau’s webpage designed to help you buy from local Indiana farms. The page includes a list of farm markets in Indiana owned by Indiana Farm Bureau members. In addition to farm markets, you can find lists of agritourism destinations, orchards, artisan products and more.

Another great resource is My Indiana Home magazine’s website. The magazine, which is sent quarterly to all Indiana Farm Bureau members, maintains an Indiana Farm Market Directory on its website. There you will find an interactive map with locations listed as well as contact information and websites.
