(Indianapolis) – Feb. 3, 2025 – Indiana Farm Bureau Insurance is proud to announce that it has received the inaugural Light in the Community award from VOICES Corp, an Indianapolis-based nonprofit that enhances the lives of youths and families through self-expression, community involvement and the empowerment of individuals to change their lives.
Indiana Farm Bureau Insurance and VOICES formed a relationship in 2024 which culminated in several opportunities for the company’s employees to give back. When VOICES moved into a former Indianapolis Public Schools building, Indiana Farm Bureau Insurance employees painted hallways and classrooms, donated to the food pantry and helped organize it. Other activities in 2024 included additional remodeling efforts, assisting with an annual holiday toy drive, building community garden beds and landscaping, and fundraising via an onsite employee garage sale.
“This award reflects the efforts of our employees who have embraced the opportunity to give back, and it’s an honor to be recognized by VOICES for those efforts,” said Kevin Murphy, Indiana Farm Bureau Insurance executive vice president and CEO. “At Indiana Farm Bureau Insurance, success amounts to more than just dollars and cents. We believe it is important to give our employees the tools and time to make a positive impact on the communities around us.”
VOICES was founded in 2010 as a day-reporting center for young boys in Indianapolis. The nonprofit helps youths work toward success in school, assists with life skills training and provides mental health resources. Over time, they have expanded services to include family programs, a food pantry, art therapy, assistance and housing for the unsheltered, and much more.
Additional programs, like Power and Promise, have also been added. The program prepares and trains young people to become mentors, community organizers, advocates and consultants for other youth-serving organizations. Partnerships like the one with Indiana Farm Bureau Insurance allow VOICES to provide more services to their community and neighbors.
"At VOICES, we believe that transformational change begins with intentional collaboration. When organizations like Indiana Farm Bureau Insurance dedicate their time, resources, and passion to our mission, it empowers us to amplify the impact we have on our young people and community,” said Kia Wright, Co-Founder of VOICES Corp. “This award isn’t just a celebration of their commitment—it’s a testament to the power of partnerships that uplift and empower the next generation of leaders."
