Spring is upon us, and everyone is antsy to go on new adventures after the chilly winter season. Indiana is filled with exciting activities for all ages throughout the state and the time to start planning begins today!

Based on population, the top five largest cities in Indiana include Indianapolis, Fort Wayne, Evansville, Carmel and South Bend. Even though these may have the largest number of people, there are other places in Indiana to explore outside of these top five cities. This spring, explore a new part of Indiana with your family or friends and see all the Hoosier state has to offer.

Spring activities in Indianapolis

  • The Children’s Museum of Indianapolis - Spend a day at The Children’s Museum of Indianapolis. The museum is filled with indoor and outdoor activities for all ages. Check online before going to see if the Riley Children’s Health Sports Legends Experience is open. The experience opens March 15, but decisions for public access are made daily based on weather conditions.
  • Victory Field with the Indianapolis Indians - Enjoy hotdogs, popcorn, ice cream and more while watching the Indianapolis Indians play America’s pastime. The 2025 season begins in April, click here to buy tickets
  • Checkout downtown Indy – Downtown Indianapolis, Massachusetts Ave. and the canal are three of the major hotspots in town that are perfect areas to explore this spring. Bring your furry friends downtown to walk along the canal or stop by one of many Mass. Ave. eateries for a quick bite!

Spring activities in Fort Wayne

  • Zesto Ice Cream - For all our ice cream fans out there, Zesto is a locally owned ice cream shop that has been serving the community for more than 50 years. Zesto has a treat for everyone including sundaes, shakes, slushes and other treats.

  • Fort Wayne Children’s Zoo - This attraction is considered one of Indiana’s No. 1 summer bucket list items. This zoo offers animals ranging from the African lion to the blacktip reef shark. They will be open for the Spring 2025 season on March 28, check out their website for tickets and more.

Spring activities in Evansville

  • Evansville African American Museum - Their mission is “to continually develop a resource and cultural center to collect, preserve and educate the public on the history and traditions of African American families, organizations and communities.” The museum has a rich history and is a place for meeting, learning, celebrating and discovering new ways of looking at history and culture.
  • Hartman Arboretum - At this unique attraction, visitors can view three different gardens including a wildlife garden, a hydrangea garden and a contemplative garden. Get off the couch and enjoy this place which also includes a stumpery, a native vine arbor and a pick-your-own blueberry patch.
  • Blue Grass Fish and Wildlife Area - Enjoy the beauty of nature in the Blue Grass Fish and Wildlife Area which spans 2,532 acres. The nature area includes 28 pits and lakes which amount to 600 acres of water. Plan a trip during hunting season, fishing season or just to have a wildlife watching experience.

Spring activities in Carmel

  • Studebaker National Museum - If you have not visited the well-known Studebaker National Museum yet, this is your sign that this spring you need to put it at the top of your list. This museum invites visitors to explore the history of automobiles and gain insight into how we made our way to where we are today in this industry.
  • Potato Creek State Park – About 15 miles southwest of South Bend lies Potato Creek State Park. The park includes the 327-acre Worster Lake which visitors can enjoy throughout the year. The state park also offers campgrounds for individuals and families to come and camp. Plan a weekend trip this spring and you can camp, hike, swim and enjoy the great outdoors at Potato Creek.
